I am currently enrolled as a fourth-year undergraduate at the University of Virginia majoring in biomedical engineering. During my second year, I conducted research regarding Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma and how these cancer cells interacted with a ceramide nanoliposome. The summer following my second year, I was a research assistant studying nuclear transport proteins. I have a strong passion for biomedical engineering and medical research, but within the last year, I have been more drawn to data science. This passion for data science resulted from me taking a required computer science (Python focused) for my biomedical engineering degree. I quickly realized that coding and anything computer science-related never felt like a chore to me. It was not until my third year at UVA that I discovered data science while taking two Coursera courses related to deep learning and data science.

Since then, I have been pursuing a career in either data science or software engineering. Currently, I am working as a research assistant at the University of Virginia modeling the spread of COVID-19 as students return in the fall. I have worked with a team that uses skills, such as Python and data collection, to create a successful project.
